Guinea pigs do get very lonely living alone. They really do need a friend each if you can do that.

Just be careful as babies can be made through the bars too!
It'd be good for them to both have a friend they can socialise with but I know rescues and neutering in the US are not as straightforward as here in the UK due to costs and distance etc. It's hard because it's not easy for us to pick them a friend they like and get it right!
