A wire floor! oh my word this just is fail to me

and the size is horrific too its only 88cm long!

and to make it worse a pet store near me sells this monstrosity for £80!

two skyline maxi xxl could be bought for that!

and even a ferplast 80 cage would be better than this heap of junk!

is it meant to be a piggy cage?

its sold online as a piggy and rabbit cage. They sell it for both saying its perfect in size for its entire life and they sell pairs of pigs in these!

bar spacing is too wide for anything like a gerbil that can stand wire floors!

What animal is it meant to be for? :{

guinea pigs and rabbit!

I dont think this would be suitable for any animal, the bar spacing on the cage is far too wide for something like a gerbil that could live on a wire floor or even birds who again can have a wire floor as long as they have lots of perches ... but its not sold for them its sold for guienea pigs and rabbits!

I cant even begin to imagine how uncomfy this would be to walk on and sleep on and then how difficult it would be to clean dirt of those bars !

poor animals :-(

I can cope with the 80cm for a pair of piggies (yes its tiny I know) but the wire floor! thats just too far!

I think an anonymous letter about cage sizes and stuff is in order!

A stiff email to the manufacturers may do the trick or a letter as you say :o
Could you threaten them with trading standards for selling them below the standard required size, flooring etc :...

I honestly dont think trading standards would do anything after all they are only RSPCA guidelines but a letter will be pretty useless to them

but directly to the manager of the independent shop might make them think as I know they are animal lovers but they are ignorant "ignorance is bliss" I suppose.

I was about to say a letter to the seller to point out why it is not suitable might be much better than anything. At the end of the day the manufacturer is unlikely to listen while people are buying so if we can educate shop owners etc and they stop buying them then the manufacturers will be forced to either design something suitable or go out of business

Besides everything mentioned that I agree is wrong, I can't see any bunny or piggy attempting that steep ramp or sitting on that tiny ledge to eat hay.

If the grid can be removed it could be quite a nice cage for 2-3 rats.

only animal that i can think of that can have a wire floor is a chinchilla as they need it, but even then the cage is tiny for a chin as the bare min is 3x3x3 foot

This cage is on sale at pamperyour paws.co.uk so I've emailed the seller so hopefully they will take note (they advertised on fb west midlands pet classifieds, so had a nosey )
unfortunatly this cage may be more common than previously thought :(
I have seen the r5 cage and that is a great cage but don't know if they are from the same manufacturer?
anyway, will let you know if I get a response
