Pistachio (5.5 yrs) has got what look very like porridge oats stuck between his anus and grease gland. I took a few off with my fingers but have left the more stuck-on ones to check here first. I have never seen this before and he was only weighed the week before last so I don’t think I would have missed them then, but it’s possible.
Please can someone advise, I can’t see anything in the health notes but am still checking them. Thank you
EDIT having searched around online I am wondering if it is to do with hay mites? Or a fungal infection.

Could the flakes be bits of grease coming from his grease gland? This can happen in the event of an overactive grease gland. You can gently clean the grease gland with coconut oil and warm water

Thanks, I am also wondering this, it’s worth trying this first I guess. I will need to get some coconut oil, never bought it before. If I can’t clear it and it doesn’t stay looking healthy I will take him to the vets next week.
