Well I just found out that all 8 of my piggies are crazy for asparagus, they only had a tiny bit (2 asparagus pieces shared between 8 piggies) but they ate it before even their babycorn slices (also 2 pieces shared into 8, I'm such a meany with treat veg!).
So I was wondering how asparagus compares to other green veg like spinach or broccolli or herbs for calcium content and vit C content?
Because we will have asparagus again occasionally if they are mad for it, so it would be good to know how it measures up in the calcium/vit C balance so we know what other veg to feed the same day or week!

Piggies can have asparagus? Your piggies are very spoilt. Did you give them the heads of the asparagus or the end that gets snapped off?

They got the whole thing of course (and it's from Ocado!) because they are spoilt little greedy snouts :) it was leftover from piggy daddy's fancy birthday dinner of vegan mushroom and asparagus stroganoff!
I read it is on the safe foods list but I wondered more specifically what other green veg to leave out on asparagus weeks!

That sounds lovely! Can I have the recipe please?
I sort of made up the recipe from amalgamating some online recipes, its basically half a leek, 6 pieces of chopped asparagus, shiitake and chantarelle mushrooms, all sauteed in olive oil- then add some vegan soya cream, a handful of vegan mozzarella substitute, and garlic, mustard and black pepper for flavour, and simmer for 10 to 15 minutes! It was very good, I dont normally cook creamy sauces but this one was a triumph :)
