Hello lovely forum people.

My Guinea pig recently had cystitis and was given a short 5 day course of metacam. The vet also mentioned about sprinkling Nutracalm capsules over her food.

I was just wondering if anyone had any experience with this if they could give me any tips or advice?

Thanks so much x

I've heard of Nutracalm but have no experience of it, sorry.
My RB boys used to have Cystease capsules for bladder issues, which I think is a similar thing?
I just wanted to say what a gorgeous piggy she is though! 😍

Nutracalm is a stress releaving natural UK product for cats, dogs and horses. It is now increasingly considered that sterile IC, similarly to feline sterile cystitis (FSC), could be stress-based. It is a new product in terms of being prescribed for guinea pigs; we've seen only one or two cases so far on here and are looking forward to member feedback.

PS: All my sterile IC piggies have certainly had a nervous disposition; the others could beat it off with their immune system. It never went as far as any symptoms or only the mildest symptoms for a little while.

Nutracalm is a supplement that can be bought online. I would always get a vets advise.i agree with the above comments.
