I have two Kent Cob nut trees in my garden and was wondering if the piggies can eat the leaves?

My guinea pigs have destroyed a squirrel planted little hazel shoot growing on my lawn just the other week, with no bad symptoms. So I assume that it's OK.

I know that hazel (that's the same genus as the cob nut I think) is often used as the wood in guineapig gnaw sticks and cage furniture, so if the wood is harmless I wouldn't expect the leaves to be bad for them, however, I've never fed them myself so couldn't say with absolute certainty.

I will give the wood a try and see if they like it. I like to give a variety of wild food to my pets if I can. My garden backs onto farmland so I get all sorts of goodies from the hedgerows, like elder flowers, berries and branches. My parrots love the treats when I get back from walks.

Hi i have an hazelnut tree in my garden and my pigs have been eating the odd leaf that falls in there run they seem to like them and haven't had any problems so i think it's ok does anybody else think this is a good or bad idea to let them eat the leafs?
