I was outside in the garden getting some grass for the pigs when this big beautiful thing came bopping up to me...

I do not own a rabbit.

He was quite happily digging away at my garden. I have no idea who he belongs to as none of my neighbours have a rabbit ( I've just went round and checked)

I've put him in the pigs outside run for now until I can either find out who he belongs to or phone the SSPCA. Not sure if I should take him to the vets to check for a microchip or just phone the SSPCA?:hmm:

I've put down a towel and some hay (I know they eat straw but I only have the pigs hay) and a bit of carrot and apple for now...

He is beautiful:love:

He is beautiful. I would let the SSPCA and local vets know you've got him, he looks well cared for so has most likely escaped rather than been turned out. Keep an eye on lamp posts and pet shops in your area they may well put up posters.

Yeah he seems like he's looked after.
He made me chase him a bit around my garden before I could catch him:doh:

He was lovely and friendly when I was holding him.
Gonna take him to the vets round the corner to see if he's microchipped before I phone the SSPCA just incase his owners are near..

I would take him to a vet to see if he has been chipped.
Also, keep an eye on facebook/other websites because someone might be looking for him. When my ferret went missing I found him by people sharing my post on facebook!

I own 3 rabbits so I hope it's okay if I give you some tips and just things that will help you while he's with you.

Rabbits are really good at digging, mine always dig "traps" for me in the garden. I wouldn't be surprised if he escaped from the run by digging under it.

Rabbits eat hay, just like guinea pigs. Straw is more of a bedding for them. They can also eat pretty much the same vegetables as guinea pigs and like piggies, they can't have too much sugary stuff.

They get scared really easily, is there anything you could put in the run where he can hide before you figure out what to do with him? A box with a hole in it is fine.

Don't forget to give him some water :)

I hope I helped, you're a good person for catching him and trying to find out where he came from. Someone is probably very worried and they will be glad he was in good hands! :)

Thanks, I thought they could only eat straw.

I've put a water bottle and a big pile of hay in there for him. Little bit of apple from my hand to make him trust me :P

And I've put one of the pigs wooden houses in for him.

As for the digging... you're not joking! He's dug a hole in the garden:doh:

He's lovely, just heading to the vets now to see who he belongs to :)

You're welcome :)

Haha, mine dig every time they touch the ground. Their old run had so many holes in the ground it was dangerous, especially at night. I nearly broke my legs every time I went to feed them and they just hopped around happily :xd:

Good luck finding his owner!

UPDATE:

This little guy has found his owners, turned out he lived about 10 houses up...

Was half hoping he wasn't chipped and I'd keep him :D
Oh well, he's safe and home now:)

great news, well done for looking after your guest so well while hew was there. A lovely ending :)
