I noticed a small red wound like mark a few inches under my guinea pigs eye. My first thought was maybe ringworm, these two pigs are the first pigs I’ve cared for so I’m very wary of any issues/sickness and know that they can get ringworm.

The only way to describe what it is, is a small red/slightly scabbed sore looking round mark just underneath her eye. I have checked around her chin/facial area and haven’t found any more. Just wondering if anyone had any guesses as to if this sounds like ringworm or maybe just an injury she’s got somehow.

If it doesn’t start to get any better within 24/48 hours I will be taking her to the vet but though id see if anyone had any advice on here :)

Hello and welcome to the forum. We'd love to learn more about your piggies, names, pics etc. I have two boys who are about two(ish)
I'm afraid legally we can only advise that you see a vet. Also please don't use any otc creams/treatment as this can mask the problem and result in an incorrect diagnosis.

Please do all your vet tomorrow to make an appointment - no point in waiting another few days because if it is ringworm it will just get worse!
We cannot tell you what it is sight unseen but can say that ringworm is a common thing for new piggies to come home with.

Please exercise caution as it spreads to humans with an incubation period of 10–14 days.
The spores can live in the environment for 18 months-2 years so you need to exercise strict hygiene measures. Change your clothes, vacuum carpets and disinfect cages and items with F10.
Please don’t attempt to treat on spec. Creaming is ineffective against ringworm.

I attach our ringworm guide below to help you with information on how to deal with it and not risk reinfection
