My laptop will not even turn on - it tells me that Windows has failed to start and I've tried all the three options and none of them work :o I've also run a system check with no avail.

Anyone help? Oh yes I'm using my Dad's computer.

i have a frind who is a whizz with computers i shall try and get hold of them and ask for you

I'm not sure what is wrong with it, I turn it on and it has three options come up;

Safe Mode
Safe Mode with Networking
Safe Mode with Command Prompt

Last known Good Configuration

Start Windows Normally

These come up and none of them work.

my mate doesnt appear to be online atm, prob out at work..if you still havent sorted out when I'm on later n he's around i'll ask him for you.

Try setting it up in safe mode, then turn it off and restart and it sometimes is OK.

We have Norton but I guess a worm could have got in *shudders*

May have to take it to be seen.

Sounds like it cant find your boot files - you could try doing a repair from a windows disk to see if you coudl repair the damaged or missing files? If not it may require a windows rebuild of the Hard drive :o

Blimey :o Thank you for your help - it looks like I need to go to the pc repair place with it.

I didn't have any disks come with it unfortunately. Darn Windows :(

Oh dear, that message you got is exactly the same as I got 2 weeks ago. I left my computer in to be fixed and turned out it needed a new hard drive as the arm was sticking :( I was lucky and got it done quite cheap as my OH does work for him cheap, otherwise he said it would have been cheaper to buy a new one. Are you sure your windows is a genuine copy? If not, that can cause all sorts of problems...good luck with it and hope it isn't too serious.

I just got my laptop back today lol. Seems like they all go wrong together :)

Well, i no what a pain in the ar*e is it to not have your own laptop when you want it. And i hope it gets fixed fairly cheaply. Mine was quoted by one big, well known shop (not naming them of course) at £45-£450 Which is alrite if you have the money to spend on it, So i went with another company which was £95.
