Since starting to give the piggies readigrass, which they absolutely love, their hay consumption has gone right down. Does the readigrass fulfil their needs or do I need to restrict that to get them eating their hay again?

:) Readigrass is very high in fibre (Graze On is higher), so this could be a possible reason. I would reduce the Readigrass a little to get them to eat a bit more hay. Readigrass has a higher Protein content which guineas don't need if they are 'just' pets ie not being shown or bred.

Hay also allows them to express natural behaviours such as tunneling so meadow hay (cheap) should be available for 'playing' as a boredom buster. A cage is a cage at the end of the day no matter the size :)

And of course hay is vital for digestion. Planet Guinea sells Alpine and Herbal hay if you want variety, also herbs approved by by guineas.
