When I first got them their was sheets of metal on lots of the cage inside, because they were destroying the cage so badly. But since I made all these changes I noticed they dont really chew on stuff. At first when I put a plastic tote thing in the bottom they were chewing it, but now they stopped. They do chew a little bit on some stuff like the cardboard box I used for their hay but not enough to do any visible damage. Is that good or bad?

Chewing cardboard box is fine. It's one of the best thing as "toy" for them coz it's a hidey and chew item for them. I usually keep a few cardboard boxes for them so I can replace the ones they manage to destroy. For some reasons, my piggies love Amazon boxes. So I always keep the ones big (or small) enough to become their hidey. Some members also use the cardboard from toilet rolls and stuff it with hay. Piggies enjoy those toys.

I did the cardboard from toilet paper rolls and stuffed it with grass and then loved it then destroyed the roll lol but just was curious if that's a good thing or not them not chewing as much. They have been running around a lot now though, and sleeping out in the open too I never knew they slept like that it's so cuteee

The only thing they really need to chew on is hay. Not only is it their main food source, hay (and grass works too) are the best things to keep their back teeth worn down. It’s fine for them to chew cardboard but it’s not a substitute for eating lots of hay, as cardboard won’t wear their teeth down

They always have hay :) but was just wondering if then not chewing on the wooden cage meant I did something right or not lol
