These two girls, Inka (left) and Bonnie, have been living in adjacent cages since their partners died. I would like to get them to bond so that I can put them in one cage, and then have only 4 cages to clean.
I put them out on the grass last week (when the weather was nice) in the same run. It looked good for a while. They ate a lot of grass and relaxed together in the shelter. But a few minutes later, Inka claimed the shelter as her own and wouldn't let Bonnie in it. Teeth were chattered and hackles were raised. So I think we can call that a big FAIL! At 4 and 6 years old, maybe they're just too old.

That's a shame. My boys sometimes bicker over things. I have to have 2 of everything. I'm :own:lol.

Would they be ok if you put 2 of everything in their cage. As I know with Alby and Buddy, Alby likes his own "stuff" and is happier this way.

Awww that is a shame, worth giving it another go or was it too aggressive do you think?

I would say try again but don't give them anything to fight over. I have two girlie's who the minute I put something in even if it's two one will take ownership and the other will want it. Now I only give the girls tunnels as they can't be trusted to share.

:D I might try them outside again today, as the weather is nice. I've recently got two new wooden bridges so I can put those in the run instead of the shelter. Being new, they won't smell of either of them. I'll join two runs together, as well, to give more space. And put in two food bowls. I'll let you know how it goes. Fingers crossed! :tu:

:D So, I put Bonnie and Inka out on the grass again yesterday. I joined two runs together to make one big one, put up two shelters, two wooden bridges, two pellets bowls, two hay cubes and two water bottles.
They basically kept to one end of the run each for most of the afternoon. Whenever they came face-to-face, rumbles were strutted, teeth were rattled and hackles were raised again. Inka chased Bonnie about quite a lot. Which ever shelter she went in, Inka chased her out. I think Bonnie was getting a bit stressed, so I divided the runs again. I think Bonnie would like to be friends, but Inka isn't interested. Shame.:( They'll just have to stay in their separate cages, rumble-strutting at each other through the bars!
