My baby guinea pig Charlie will do anything to get a nose rub. His body goes all tense when you rub around his nose and underneath his jaws and he follows your hands when you move them.

Does anyone else have a guinea pig that likes this kind of thing?

Here's a video of Charlie getting a nose rub:

all the girls I had loved having their chins rubbed and they would freeze on the spot when you started. My boys don't particularly like it (except with my mum who obviously has the trick!). My boys like it behind their ears! And Bertie who is a complete couch potato will start licking my husband frantically if he dares stop!
I suppose they are all different, my Rene liked eskimo kisses. If you popped your head in the cage, he'd come up and touch nose, maybe lick it and then trot away!
Baby Finlay doesn't really like being handled but so far I have discovered he's the only piggy I have had who doesn't mind his belly being tickled!

However, on a more serious note, you may want to have your little one's mouth checked, he may have sores or problems with his teeth.

Rene sounds lovely.

Also thanks for your concern. He has a healthy appetite and seems really happy. One of his sisters also likes her nose rubs and behaves pretty much the same, while the other sister used to like it but has now grown out of it.

I will of course keep an eye on them :)

Rene sounds lovely.

yes, he was. Unfortunately, he left us 4 weeks ago and is sorely missed... 8... but we remember his cheeky nature and how he could drive us nuts at times! grrrr

If one of the sisters has grown out of it, it might just be one of those things that they grow out of! I'm glad to hear that Charlie is eating well, that's a worry that we can all do without...

Oh MrsM I'm sorry to hear that. Sounds like he was a real character who left many fond memories behind.

Who's the piggie in your avatar? He/she is absolutely gorgeous!

the one and only Rene!
He's also on my computer desktop background and on my phone... I am a bit obsessed... @)

Yeah, he was a champ. But he got really poorly in the last 2 months of his (too short) life... and eventually it prooved too much for him although he gave a good fight. Unfortunaltely, we don't really know what was wrong. The vet was convinced it was malocclusion but they found nothing during the op. We have since found out it could have been impaction, apparently common in boars of a more mature age. In the end, I think his kidneys gave in because he didn't pass any liquid in his last 36hrs. Anyway, he's now where he was happiest: in our garden! ;)

Don't be sorry... I was the lucky one to have him in my life... :) he was my hubby and my first pet together, so it hit us hard but I'm making a film of the little footage I've got of him. Maybe, one day it'll appear on YouTube! that's when I tame the software! another kind of animal... :{

I know how you feel. When we lost Maya I put together a photo album which I took everywhere with me. It was a hard loss but I am glad and privileged that we shared in her life.

Let me know when the footage is ready. He was a beautiful pig and I sure would like to see more pictures of him.

Lots of love from me and my girls to the rest of your piggies!

I've started a thread about my baby on Rainbow Bridge and have been trying to upload a clip for about an hour... Pfff, technology, heh?!?
There is a photo of Rene there already, if you fancy a butcher's.

Helen,

Yes, that was Ryan's hand. He first discovered the trick. Every pig just loves him. I think they tolerate me because I feed them, but they all love Ryan!

He was really handsome. It's nice to see a video of him!

if you listen carefully, you can hear him squeak as he approaches my fingers. That was typical, he'd come, have a sniff (in cae I was good to eat?) and then get on with his life. I just love the nonchalant trot afterward... :))

BTW, it's my hubby in the background shouting about our other piggy, Bertie, who loves lying flat on his (hubby's) tummy while watching TV.:)p

It's only because I'm constantly warm and they love stealing my body heat :p
Ryan.

my babies do this also.I think it has something to do with getting milk from mummy
