I took my boy to the vet because his nose was bleeding and he was only breathing from one nostril. The side with the blood also had his eye weepy with the white cleaning fluid constantly and was swollen. The vet said to try and suction his nostril out before coming to see if something was stuck and oddly this made his mouth bleed at the base of his front teeth. While at the vet she took a sample of this odd blood and tissue and looked under the microscope for cancer but only saw signs of bacterial infection. He's on antibiotic and is whistling a lot less (lost his appetite from the antibiotic unfortunately), but his nose and mouth started bleeding again today (5 days on antibiotic). his gums look like they have that weird bloody tissue stuck to them or maybe growing on them. Could this be something stuck in his gums that just caused a sinus infection or is this his teeth growing the wrong direction? he has a checkup on Thursday but I want to be prepared in case the vet wants to put him down.

I’m afraid I can’t help with the gums/bleeding, it’s not an issue I’ve come across before.
Bur do ensure you switch from the routine weekly weight checks and make sure you weigh him daily while he is on antibiotics. As you say his appetite has been affected, ensure you syringe feed a recovery feed to replace his hay intake. You can also give a probiotic while he is on antibiotics to help settle his gut. Ensure you give the probiotic 1-2 hours either before or after the antibiotic but not at the same time as.

Sorry this is blurry it's the best I could do. but see at the base of his teeth is that red tissue like swollen gums. it only started bleeding this morning when I moved his lips around.

Is it possible he's had a fall or hit his face on something or had some other kind of injury? If it was due to injury it is possible his teeth broke under the gum line which might explain why they have started bleeding again when touched. If this is the case they will fall out in time and grow back but this process will cause pain (until they have fallen out) and difficulty in eating, so he will need additional syringe feeding. When you see the vet again ask if his teeth feel lose to them.

I wouldn't be shocked as they have a loft they jump on but I work from home and hadn't heard him fall off it. though he did start to have slight nose bleeds on the 23rd so I would think they would have fallen out by now. I didn't rush him to the vet because he's been diagnosed with allergies by 2 vets (he whistles when he sniffs hard for 1.5 years) and likes to dive in his hay. figured it was allergies or hay up his nose but then it didn't go away. he was also eating fine up until he started the antibiotic.

Antibiotics can upset their digestion and appetite, please do step in with syringe feeding and a probiotic

Yes, the antibiotics could be why he's stopped eating, it still might be that his teeth are damaged in someway too. I home he gets better soon.

Yes I just went to the store and got more benebac. He's been really fighting me on the syringe feeding I'll just have to try harder. he still eats his hay and pellets he just doesn't want any treats or veggies.

Keep an eye on his hay intake by weighing him daily. That is the only way to know he is definitely eating enough hay, you cannot judge intake by eye.
Pellets are only one tablespoon per day so won’t sustain him

Definitely see the vet again

yeah absolutely. He's got a checkup on Thursday. I just couldn't find any info on signs of teeth growing the wrong direction and I didn't want to be blindsided if that was the case. the vet may want to give him xrays she was trying to get his airway more stable before giving him any anesthetics though.

Pepper was put to sleep this morning. the swollen gums was actually the tumor that was inside his nose making it bleed growing through his mouth. it was so small a week ago so it was missed in the biopsy. He was only 2.5 years old but no where near me would offer chemo.

Oh no, that is so sad to hear. Poor Pepper, popcorn free little man.
It is harsh that you have lost him so young but I don't think chemo is a good option for piggies and feel you have done the right thing letting him go x
