Hello,
A little background on my Ezmerelda. I contacted your forum in January when I first started treating her for ringworm. She started with a very small area on her head of hair loss and pink skin. She never had visible crustiness, or the ugly sores I've seen in the photos. She has a dense Teddy hair coat, so what alerted me was a few tiny flakes on the ends of her hair.
She's been on Itrafungol since then, as well as being bathed with Miconazole shampoo every 3 days per the vet. The original spot has regrown hair. It had spread to a spot above her eye, which also now has hair regrowth. Currently, her other eye and the top of her nose have pink skin, missing hair both of which are noticeable only when I wet her down.
I have been doing as well as I can with the cleaning. Lots of F-10 and disinfecting per your site. She's on fleece, which I change and wash daily.
As it's persisting this long the vet suggested I treat her with ivermectin topically in case there's another issue compounding things. I thought I read somewhere to not treat with itraconazole and ivermectin concurrently, but I did apply it last night.
This morning I found some blood in her cage from a nosebleed. Now I feel worse than ever...is this a side effect of the combination of the drugs?
She's not a very active girl, so I would doubt she hurt herself. She did eat normally this a.m.
I adopted this piggie from a shelter because she's blind in one eye and I knew I had the ability to treat it. Now I fear I've made her life do much worse. And she is the sweetest.
Thanks for any input.

Hi

HUGS

I am very sorry about your ongoing saga. The nose bleed is not connected since you apply ivermectin on the back and not on the nose. I would rather think that it be connected to the underlying issue if there is a connection.

Please have her checked in case the nose bleed is more than just an injury from a bit of hay getting into the nostril and scratching it.

Are you sure really that the hair loss in both those areas is down to ringworm and not just down to more frequent eye watering. The same goes for hair on the nose. You may just notice it because you are looking more closely? The hair loss pattern is not screaming ringworm to me but of course I can only go by your words and cannot really comment sight unseen.

Thank you so much...
After I returned from work, (and wasn't crying, so my vision was clearer), I discovered a scratch on her nose, so I assume that was the source of the bleeding. Sure seemed like a lot of blood from a small animal.
The blind eye has dry eye, so she's lacking tear production, also the hair loss was above the eye. I assumed I spread things when I held her head still when applying the eye ointment, even wearing gloves it's tricky.
It IS quite possible I am obsessing on the areas too much. They are pink, so the vet is wondering if it is irritating her skin bathing her as they recommended every 3 days. They suggested backing off to once a week. The flakes in her hair are minimal, but I see an increase as the days after the baths go by.
The areas would not photograph well, so I can not successfully share them.
Again, thank you so much for your support!

Glad that it has all worked out without any new illness. :tu:
