Hi all, I was doing the cage clean and had my two piggies out on my black leather couch. One of them decided to do a big pee and on inspection I was unsure if this looked normal. The only way I can describe it is it was similar to the colour of a cup of milky tea. Like a creamy colour and also looked quite creamy in texture. On wiping it away it looked a similar colour but had that yellow/orange tint to it, it also smelt a little strong. My piggies have not peed on my couch before so I wouldn't know if this pee is normal. Any input is appreciated. Thanks.

Normal pee is milky white.
As long as it wasn’t gritty then it’s not usually an issue. Gritty can be a sign there is something wrong in their calcium intake
Pee does turn orange as it hits the air and oxidizes
Strong or fishy smelling can be a sign of a UTI.

Only a vet can tell you for sure

It definitely wasn't milky white, more like a cup of tea. It was very similar to the picture on the post I mentioned above, the one with the purple fleece bedding. I would say the urine smelt a little strong but not fishy. Thanks for your reply.

I wouldn’t be overly concerned about it provided there are no symptoms of bladder issue.

As I say, urine oxidised when it hits the air and they do excrete calcium in their urine.

What are your piggies normally bedded on? It’s easier to see white powdery deposits on fleece

They are bedded on fleece. Ruby was unfortunately diagnosed with cystitis and bladder sludge only a few months ago and she does leave white deposits every now and again, she is on life long rheumocam now. Delilah up to now has had no urinary issues but unfortunately, has suffered with a few flare ups of bloat. They were both on my sofa when this strange or not so strange pee appeared so I do not even know who was the culprit lol. On inspection, I noticed they both had wet bottoms but I think that was due to the fact they were sat in pee on my leather couch. It's just I have seen their pees before but not on a hard surface, if that makes sense. I do panic as I have had alot of anxiety with my other 3 that I unfortunately lost last year.
