I have been using fleece for a couple of years but have got to the point where i am finding all the brushing and washing a little too much, I am going to try the foam for a liner as others have mentioned but i need to find an alternative for the beds etc.

I don't really want to use wood or plastic and am wondering if anyone has any ideas and links to where I can find alternatives, I have seen tents but they don't look like you can wash them in the machine? any ideas welcome:) Pink would be nice :)) I will of course give my piggies soft fleece mats so they don't have wet bottoms :(|) but i need to cut down on the workload:(

Thanks guys :<>

Hi,

I'm jumping in on your thread, hope that's ok. I use fleece too and feel like it's not getting clean in the wash. There's still hair all over it. I currently wash the fleece inside a zipped up pillow case but have just bought a proper pet laundry wash bag so I'll see if that helps to remove the hair at all.

I'm interested to see what others suggest for you.

Hi,

I gave fleece a go since August and after a recurring mite problem was advised by the vet to go back to dust free shavings and dust free hay as he was concerned the nasties weren't getting washed out of the fleece I was washing at 30-40 and since going back to shavings I haven't missed fleece at all. They still have a piece of fleece under their igloos as they do enjoy the feel of fleece. I just find it alot easier rather than shaking the fleece and washing it. I was washing and changing the fleece nearly everyday and it got a bit of a chore as well. I am happy now but felt I have at least given it a go. I suppose it is what suits you.

I change all my fleece beds every 2 days as my piggies wee so much, I brush them all outside, then put them in a pet wash bag in the machine but they still have fur all over them, and i can't brush them any more than i do.

I tried some paper type bedding in one end a few weeks ago and apart from being too scared to go on it, they just eat itrolleyes

My problem is that although the girls have a cage upstairs they spend most of their time in the lounge in a C&C, well actually it's just a C as I just use puppy pads without a correx base. I think any thing like shavings would just end up getting everywhere. With a litter tray and hay box the mess is pretty much contained and it only takes a few minutes each day to clean them up. Hmmmm, decisions decisions!

Thanks Woo for letting me jump in!
