I've listened to all those links people post but still don't know. How many of you have pigs that when you hold them and stroke them they make high pieces wheeks, it's almost like their doing a wobberly laugh to me.

Also it sounds like a monkey when they get excited just not so loud? I wanna make sure it isn't a 'I hate you' noise tbh.

Kenya is the main pig that does it but if you stroke the other pigs from behind ears to bum they eventually start doing it too.

Both of my guinea pigs do it but Sid does it mainly. He loves the top of his chest being tickled, behind his ears and Fran loves her back legs being tickled lightly. Likewise, I hope its not telling me 'BACK OFF' ha ha.

I had a piggie that whinged (may she rest in peace) - she sounded just as though she was telling me such a tale of misery and life was so terrible and she really couldn't go on with it like this....whinge whinge whinge....but this was actually a happy noise. I used to go 'oh dear me, how awful, did they really? that's terrible' and so on in response, she rather liked it when I joined in.

(If they don't like where you are stroking then they will let you know quite swiftly through body language if not noise.)

I loved the description of the noises by the way! You have a way with words.

I've had two very 'vocal' piggies... my current loudmouth, Sundae, makes a noise like someone rubbing a balloon with sweaty palms whenever we pat her. I know it's a weird description, but that's the closest thing I can say to describe it! She is sometimes so loud we have to turn up the tv to hear over her. It's just her happy sound- she likes pats! She has also been known to wheek so loud that her ears jump and she can be heard two floors up... she does this whenever the fridge opens or whenever she thinks there is a remote possiblity that someone might give her a treat. My other pig is very quiet... she does wheek and snuffle at times, but she lets loudmouth little sister speak for her most of the time.

My two boys are vocal. Freddie is the worst he has the high pitched squeeks which sound very dramatic, at first I was worried as I had not heard it like that before but now I just think well thats just him. Charlie gets more excited by certain things and he will then squeek loud other than that he is more quiet.

They are funny, I have Henry who makes such a nervous noise all the time when being stroked that I'm constantly accusing my daughter of 'guinea pig worrying' when she's just stroking him! I used to have 7 guineas & haven't heard this noise to such an extent before. I've just come to the conclusion that he's a bit odd, he seems to snuggle in for a cuddle just the same!
