No Popcorning :(

Hello all

Ive had my 3.5mth boars about a month now. I have never seen either of them popcorn :( am i doing something wrong? they have lots of hay, pellets, veggies... floortime, laptime, decent size habitat... they wheek lots but never popcorn, I'm always hearing about popcorning babies and worried they are not happy :(
 
Not at all. Not all guinea pigs popcorn. Do they chut or run? They are also signs of happiness. Please do not worry about them not popcorning.
 
what does chut mean? they run about, are really alert, handfeed and seem to enjoy me chatting to them xx
 
Chut is a little noise they make when they are content. It sounds like they are chatting away to themselves. Your piggies sound happy to me.
 
just youtubed chutting...they do this lots.. what is difference between chut and wheek? thank you SO much piggyfan, you have put my mind at ease xx
 
I have only ever seen one of my pigs popcorn maybe twice in the last 6 months. He does chut a lot when he's being fussed over and he is always stretching out and falling asleep on me. He's a happy pig, just a bit difficult for him to get over excited. Where as my other one popcorns when he hears the dustbuster:roll: really wouldn't worry. They'll do it eventually.
 
Our first two girls never popcorned - like you I had read about it and really wanted to see it. Our next two did it all the time when they were babies as well as running around frantically. They still do even at the grand old age of two and a half, but only on a sunny day on the grass. Every pig is different !
 
I noticed that as mine got older they popcorned less…I imagine the heavier they become maybe the harder it is to take off! Very occasionally though I see a slight skip from them!
 
hehe I bet they are popcorning away when you aren't looking. I like to imagine what piggies get up to when they aren't being observed. A bit like Andy's toys in Toy Story lol

Lol! Yeah I think you're probably right…the way they guiltily scarper if you walk on on them unexpectedily does suggest they get up to all kinds of mischief!
 
One of my boys rarely popcorns (was even a rare sight when he was younger), the other is 2 years old and he doesn't stop! I think it's purely down to personality :) From the sounds they make I'd say you have very happy pigs :)
 
I've had my babies a month or so more than you and mine just one day randomly started popcorning and now they're always doing it - you may find they just do it one day! But my piggies before this never did so it's an individual thing :)
