Hi All, my 4 month old boar has virtually no pigment on many parts of body including eye membranes etc all checked by vet.

His penis is also completely white - ive checked and cleaned and really , really think this is no pigment as it’s completely white all the way up the tubes etc ..almost see through.. he’s well in himself , very active , just had a check up with specialist vet but they didnt check penis - perhaps as he’s only 4 months. has anyone had this so i can put mind at rest? Thanks

Hi and welcome

Could you please upload pictures of the various white patches via the Attach Files button under your post when you write it (please angle them so that we can also see whetre on the body they are located)?

There is a healthy common breed called pink-eyed whites (or PEWs) that looks like albinos but isn't.

We cannot comment on any potential medical issues like a fungal skin infection or a build up of smegma on the penis just based your first post, I am sorry. It is far too vague.

So, could this be fungal ? As i say its NOT patchy in any way , nor itchy nor painful .. the ‘tube’ extending to the penis is also completely white, almost see through , as mentioned he has points of no pigment on membranes and does have pink eyes within his eye colour if that makes sense ? Thanks

Hi

Thank you for the pictures.

Please have your boy vet checked for a hard sperm rod (i.e. dried semen fluid) stuck in the penis shaft. It is very uncomfortable and can cause an infection in the penis shaft if not removed within a few days. Depending on the size and shape as it dries, it can be a bit tricky to remove it.
For more practical information on boar care, health checks and boar specific problems (including sperm rods with picture) please see this link here: Boar Care: Bits, Bums & Baths

If your boy is white with dark eyes, then he is a DEW, a 'dark-eyed white', which is a fairly recently bred sub-variant of the pink-eyed whites. Nothing to worry about in this respect.
DEWs and piggies with DEW heritage can have often have darker skin under the white hairs (from the side of the family tree that has provided the dark eyes) with some pink patches whereas PEWS and normal piggies with white markings will always have pink skin in combination with white hairs. ;)
