As many of you will already know, my regular slaves have been off on holiday somewhere that isn't here.
Don't worry though - they did arrange for a very nice lady to come in and look after us while they were off gallivanting.

Since they have been back we have been very happy.
Our pet sitter is great, but we do like all the fuss and attention we get when our regular slaves are around. Plus they feel guilty for leaving us, so they try to compensate with new toys to make us happy. Things like nice willow baskets, which I of course immediately destroyed.
I do like wrecking stuff.

But today the big slave (the boring one who is always saying dull stuff like 'too many blueberries are bad for guinea pigs') said we needed to have a serious talk.

Apparently it is no longer blueberry season.
And this means I might not get a regular blueberry treat.
She said I needed to try a new treat, which was ridiculous - I don't need a new treat, I need a blueberry.
But she didn't give me a blueberry.
She gave me a new thing called a grape instead.
I am a discerning pig who is not easily bought - I know what I like, and I like blueberries.
I didn't want her yucky grape, so I bit it to show her how cross I was.
And then I bit it again.
And again.
And then I ate the whole grape, and wheeked for another one.
I love grapes.
And the big slave is already being super boring about it and saying ridiculous things like 'too many grapes are bad for guinea pigs'.
I can't wait until I get another grape.
Did I already mention how much I love grapes?

Love Eddi.

Oh gosh you're so lovely Eddi! Might have to try my girls with grapes, which will please the OH as he also likes grapes and will mean he can buy a bunch for 'the guinea pigs' ( though one has pretty much turned her nose up at all offered fruit - she once touched a tomato and was so horrified by it she turned tail and hid until the others had eaten all offending pieces)

He is such a handsome piggie! Lily also adores fruit, and George will sometimes have a try, but I'm not sure how many I should give them at a time - I tend to give just a half grape or a tiny slice of a bigger fruit. She obviously thinks that's not enough (just like Eddie) but what do other piggie slaves give as a portion of fruit?

When blueberries were readily available Eddi used to get one blueberry every 2nd or 3rd day (so 2- 3 blueberries a week). This is probably quite a lot really, so we very rarely feed other sweet stuff like carrot, apple, sweetcorn, watermelon, etc.
The girl on the otehr hand do eat the odd piece of fruit, but really prefer a slice of carrot or apple - it seems it is just Eddi who goes crazy for fruit.
I think the general advice is something sweet once a week, but I am hoping a small grape or blueberry every few days is ok, because once you have seen Eddi begging it is very (very) hard to say no.

Oh Eddi, you are so very lovely. I am glad that you like grapes. It would have been a long winter without blueberries without something else to enjoy. I don't know how your slaves can possibly resist that little face x

Dearest Eddi

Oh how I have missed you and your blueberry tales. I have pined away for a glimpse of your eye patch and sleek black feet. I am glad your regular slaves have returned but disappointed that they returned without Blueberries. You need to make sure that next time they don't come back without them.
At least they are not as security strict as your temporary slave who obviously guarded your fortress with great gusto and left no opportunity for you to sneak onto the internet.

Have you ever tried this thing called a Strawberry? They are also very nice and seem to be available all year**.

I am glad you like grapes, I like them too especially the green ones. Maybe we can nibble one together some time.

Lots of love
Freyja.

**depending on supermarkets importing them of course. But piggies are so oblivious to where we source their foods.
