we've had misty for about 4 years now, and for a while, whenever i take her back to her hutch she starts to nip me.
i was just wondering, do you think she does this becasue she is in pain, or just anxious to be back in her hutch? i've noticed quite a few times as soon as i've put her back she's had a wee, could this be the reason do you think?
what i normally do when she nips is turn her around so she is facing forwards and her back is into my chest no she can't nip me.
any thoughts would be appreciared x

I've got 1 who does that so I carry a piece of carrot in my hand now. It works wonders for keeping his attention away from nipping me.

Is she ok when she's out with you? Is it just when you're carrying her home? I know they can get nippy when they have mites as they don't like to be touched but if its just when you're carrying her maybe she doesn't feel safe when you're moving. One of mine hates being carried, she gets a bit scared but if i cover her face with my hand so she can't see any movement that settles her down a lot. Kind of like a horse with blinkers on :)

Some piggies do nip to indicate they need to have a pee.

Toffee's always done it, he's 5 now, if it wasn't my hand it was my sleeves or he'll turn his head round and try and get whatever I'm wearing, it's not malicious he just likes to be noticed I think. He's never really been one for cuddles, but is mellowing in his old age.;)

she's absolutely fine when i have her out. she does lick and nibble but its not at all in the same way as the nipping. i carry her around the house a lot in exactly the same position and she loves it, infact she always runs up me when i'm sat down with her on my lap to get into that position!
i think i'll try your idea of having some food to distract her, becasue i really don't want her to continue with her bad habbit. thanks guys :)
