So I've only had my girls for three days, but I'm trying to make sure we're in good habits from the very beginning. Yesterday I managed to pick Wheat up for only the second time (she's the bolder of the two, but very fast to run away if I come near) and apart from being very wriggly for a while (which I expected) she was also quite nibbly. It was definitely nibbly rather than nippy, and she was specifically going for a couple of finger nails with leftover pink nail varnish on them - so I wonder if she thought they were food?! Anyway, I just wondered if people had tips for stopping guineas from having a nibble on your fingers! I don't really mind as it doesn't hurt, I'd just rather she didn't do it at all in case she actually bites me, or does it to someone else who freaks out and drops her!

mine to nip and nibble at me,they are only about 21 or 22 weeks, pigs love to nibble and it can mean put me down i need a wee or put me down ive had enough etc etc and as for others holding them and dropping them i just dont let anyone hold them ! i hold they stroke ! i would be gutted if someone dropped them !

A nibble is not painful as you know :)) Mine do it when they've had enough cuddles or groomimg etc. so put them back in their homes which is their comfort zone. They tend to lick my fingers as well which I believe is a sign of affection ?/ One did nip me last week but he was protesting at being syringed antibiotics :(
I've only ever had a full blown bite off a piggy once which was my own fault mallethead - didn't get my hand out of the way quick enough when enticing one with a treat. Boy it was like a hot knife to butter so appreciate how sharp their teeth are :x
I never stand either with my piggies, not worth the risk even though they are used to being handled and rarely wriggle :(|)
