hello all,one of my boys keeps nibbling the plastic entrance to his little house,he is about 20 weeks old, i have plenty of the wooden/grass tubes and unlimited hay and nuggets etc so I'm sure its not bordem. now hes not chewing bits off and eating it but i just wondered if its bad for him to nibble things like that ?

my guinea pig cheeky chews her house to pieces aswell. I hope its not bad for them. I don't think she swallows the plastic but constantly chews and nibbles at it.

i think piggies explore through nibbling. mine often nibble the plastic houses, eat the cardboard and wooden ones, and also like a nibble on me, my clothes and my carpets! i wouldn't worry too much.

thanks all,i did read up as much as possible and i do know pigs are right little nibblers ! i was just checking .

pigs by name pigs by nature !

A lot of piggies investigate by licking and/or nibbling things. A lot of the time they don't swallow what they're chewing but they like to check things out thoroughly.

Piggies' sense of taste, smell and hearing are great but they can't see brilliantly and have only limited colour vision so putting things in their mouth is a great way to check them out. Like babies :)
