The smaller piggy of my two 7 week olds, Beansprout, flips onto her side and nibbles quite frequently when being handled, we've tried to handle them calmly and gently, and we've put her behaviour down to being young or perhaps needing a wee or poo when being handled, but the other piggy, Noodle, is completely calm and content and almost falls asleep when being handled she is so relaxed, any thoughts or advice?

Not all piggies like being handled; they are first and foremost prey animals and not cuddly pets.

Take your time to read this guide here; you may find it interesting and helpful: How To Understand Guinea Pig Instincts And Speak Piggy Body Language

Thank you for the advice, we will leave them to settle for the rest of the night and most of tomorrow day, but they are so cute and irresistible to not cuddle!

We have got lots more helpful advice for new owners via this link here. it combines answers to the most often asked for questions with some important need-to-know advice that many new owners are usually not aware of.

Babies can be easily excited and very squirmy/wiggly (Leela use to flop over onto her side or occasionally even her back during lap time, like she was trying to popcorn while laying down and instead just pushed herself over.) Different pigs have different personalities, some are mellow during lap time and others are not. Enjoy the frisky little baby stage- they don't tend to be quite as acrobatic once they grow up!
