Nibbles new chum; Jacob

Story so far: brought Jacob home Sunday as a new chum to Nibbles having lost her bonded chum Bubbles after 3 and a half years (both girls).

Put him in spare Starter Hutch, he settled very quickly so on Monday we put his hutch in the play area in front of Nibbles hutch.

We let Nibbles into the play area, lots of nose nuzzling, then shut Nibbles in her hutch and let Jacob out into the play area, more nose nuzzling!

Last night (weds) we let them both into the play area for half an hour, it went quite well. Jacob was neutered 6 weeks ago so still gets a little passionate!

Here is a video of the worst spat! What do you think? They were supervised for the whole time they were together.

That looks ok to me - he wants to have her, she says no... he backs off and goes to do other things. She was 'banging' him with her teeth rather than biting I think...

Unfortunately neutering doesn't stop them wanting to hump... but the sow should put him in his place!

It's possible they will do this every time you put them together - personally I would recommend leaving them together after that, as once they've sorted it out it should stay sorted if they're left together.

Thanks to Sophie's excellent advice the 2 piggies are now together happily, they spent their first night together last night and they were snuggling side by side this morning after their breakfast!

my boar & sow act exactly the same as that! I am yet to see them snuggle though so you're lucky!
