newspaper and hay

how good is this for bedding?
when i had my friends guineas to stay they tried to eat the newspaper non stop and there were big chunks out of it so i took away the newspaper and just had the woodshavings so i'm not sure if all piggies would do that?

I've just bought some of this from ebay.
The guineas seem to like it, and I thought it would make a change from vetbed as i've been struggling to get it dry in this bad weather.

i use newspaper then piles of hay on top for my two in their night cage.

They don't chew it and its really really easy to clean. just roll up in the morning and pop in a bag.
