Hiyooooooooooo!

I've booked little Birtie Bobs into the vets to have the chop and so I can let him & Gertie be friends and live together, and I've decided, I dont like the cage I got from Pets@Home anymore, I dont think it's big enough and it's a pain to clean - I never feel its clean enough even after I've scrubbed it.

I asked a while ago about C&C and I'm really excited now to get one. I've found a few websites which sell the cages and the correx that goes inside.

Here's this website for C&C - Standard Cages | C and C Guinea Pig Cages what do you all think? Is this a good price? Any cheaper?

I am also getting pretty excited with getting some accessories, I'm thinking of giving up woodshavings again - as its just annoying, it gets everywhere, Birts feet are quite dry and sometimes the shavings get up his bum, so I have clean that out. I'm going to try some of these waterproof mats, you can even get some that are personalised with your pigs name on, oooooooooohawww! Ill include it below

Please help a sister out, just really looking around at the moment, try and find cheaper things and what works with other's peoples piggies.

Thanks for any help! I'm so excited.

Hey there! Welcome to the forum :D
Depends what size cage you want? If you want bigger than a 2x4 I'd recommend buying the correx and grids separately off ebay/amazon, as it's work out ££ cheaper.

I think I'm looking for 2x3 or poss 2x4! I had a look on amazon but couldnt find much with grids, they were just like shoe racks!

i got mine recently from there, you get all you need... only prob we had was our table was slightly too small but we sorted it... it is pricey and i know if you shop around you can get it cheaper but i liked the fact it all came together..

Is right! Thank you :) ill have a look and make myself a spreasheet for different places to buy them!

Chief guinea pig - itll house 2 :) I want to make it like a 2 storey one as well :)

For two you'll need at least a 2x4, are they boars or sows?
As levels don't count, it's mainly floor space that matters, but double story is nice especially if you want a hay loft! :D

Oooh really?! I best shift a few things to get this cage haha! It's 1 boar and 1 sow, going to neuter Birt first though and slowly introduce them before putting them into the cage

Yeah deffo love that idea, think theyll love hiding in it all haha.

Do you use shavings or fleece?

Yeah I'm afraid 2x3 is for just one piggy. So it'll be worth measuring if you can fit 2x4 or 2x5.

I use fleece :) I found shavings got everywhere, and it smelt a lot too. I put two layers of towels beneath the fleece, spot clean it twice a day, and fully change it twice a week. Even if it doesn't smell, or appear soiled.

Yeah deffo Ill do some measuring tonight, got a while yet before I put them together, but I just want them to have the best! Thanks for your help :)

Thats good, I think the same about shavings, it does my head in. I did try vet bed once but I didnt like it, felt it smelt too. But when I did use it, it was my piggy who was slowing dying at the time so I think it smelt as she just kept weeing in the same spot, ended up buying loads of vet beds to replace them every day cus they were that bad :( but I'm gonna search for some waterproofy mat thingys

I use fleece liners in mine x

It's exciting getting your very first C&C. I hope you like it, and good luck with your little boar being neutered :D

I make them myself, i can use a sewing machine altho am crap at following instructions lol.so trial and error mostly... x

I bought the grids from Seville off Amazon recently, and had to send them back because the they only had 8 by 8 holes instead of the 9 by 9 you need to be sure no guinea pig can get stuck (even though the picture shows 9 by 9). I found G*r*e*n*d*l*e (the forum doesn't allow this word written normally for some reason) puppy cages on Amazon instead, and got their grids which come with connectors and cable ties.

Awesome Flowergarden! Thankyou I'll have a look at that, I've been making spreadsheets with research on different grids, am such a loser lol

I wish I could make my own stuff artcasper! Kudos to you!
