After having little success with fleece and vetbed (I couldn't keep up with all the washing), I've switched to megazorb. Just cleaned the piggies out and used it for the first time....so far so good, its much softer than I thought! Just wondering though how much to put in, would it be the same as woodshavings? I think I've put enough in for it to be an inch or so deep, does this seem about right?

Thanks x

i use fleece for my piggies but use megazorb for my girl bunny and do it about an inch thick, when you come to clean out day there is not much you need to take out as its so absorbant

Does Megazorbe have any smell to it, I cant stand the smell of new wood shavings. Currently on fleeces just got to see how I cope with the washing?

I love love love megazorb, its highly absorbent and dust free and soft.. One problem for me is its rather expensive for the amount you get as I have to buy mine online and for it to be delivered to the isle of Wight there is a extra £5 added to it.

If I was earning more I may go back to it, but at the moment i use dust extracted wood shavings, nowhere on the island sells megazorb :( and for the amount I use for my herd I would need over half the bag each time
So i would have to buy a 2 at a time to make it worth while.

I would much rather use megazorb than shavings, as it means I wouldn't have to clean them out so much as the megazorb absorbs loads.

I find the smell of it smells the same as egg boxes. so have a good sniff of a egg box and it kinda smells like that, I don't mind the smell, but then again I dont mind the smell of shavings either. :p

I love megazorb! I started using it at the end of December and now wouldn't consider anything else. At the moment I have a new sack of it at the end of my bed in my room :))

I would say I use about an inch thickness to line my boys cage and then they get lots of hay to snuggle into. I don't think it particularly smells of anything? Not even after several days.

We use megasorb for all our animals, far better than any other type of bedding we've tried, and always end up coming back to it. Its super aborbant, keeps smells down far more than anything else we've tried.
Got this off there website

MEGAZORB is a highly absorbent horse bedding that is manufactured from virgin wood pulp, a by-product of the paper making industry.

I really want to try it out, everyone seems to recommend it so highly... Hopefully the place where I get my hay does it!

Yeah I use about an inch thickness of Megazorb as well, and may top it up a little in the week as my guineas enjoy burrowing in it and kicking it about. So pleased it's such an effective bedding. Couldn't afford Carefresh each week for my 2x6 cage and you get 3 x more Megazorb for half the price.

Thanks everyone, I'm really impressed so far, fleese was getting damp very fast but the cage is still really dry even after 2 full days, and the piggies really seem to like it. They still have their fleese cozies too so still have something to snuggle in to!

I've used megazorb for the bunnies and the piggies litter trays and it is great. Just expensive. The only thing I would say is check your piggies butts! Mine seemed to store megazorb up their butt :)) so needed cleaning more often. Mine were boys, I don't know if that makes a difference or not.

Thanks for info. I'm a newbie, bought a bag of megazorb and need to know how to use it, so apologies if I'm asking daft questions .

If I put an inch down do I empty it all out during my big clean once a week or is it a case of scooping up wet clumps and adding more?

Also, am planning to line the cage with newspaper, then megazorb, then tea bag cuttings on top, does this sound sensible?

If anyone is scandalised that I'm only doing a big clean once a week don't worry, they're coming out of the cage 8am every morning onto freshly laundered towels in a run till 6pm and they seem to do most of their business when they're active in the day.
