Hi!

So I recently realized that my boys need a bigger cage in order to be happy, so I decided to invest in the C&C cage idea. The grids weren't had to find, but the coroplast lining... I don't really know where to get it, and I don't know what my options are for different materials or how to place it in the cage safely and effectively. Help?

Other question: I'm thinking that having a reusable lining would save me a lot of time and money. Plus, I try to stay green. What can I use as a lining that won't leak and and won't disintegrate over time? My boys are (loosely) litter trained, so the mess is somewhat contained.

ps. I live in the US, just in case you've got a really great suggestion of a store, but it's a UK only chain.

I know you can get correx online so surely somewhere would ship to the US?

If not i know many people who just line the floor with kitchen lino then place the grids over that then use the bedding, which would be great if you were going to use something like vet bed or fleece (much cheaper in the long run than shavings for example, but does need washing a few times a week in the washing machine - so maybe not green? )

But if you are going to use shavings/straw/hay as bedding, mess will get kicked out everywhere so to save making a mess it would be beneficial to have some sort of guard around the edge of the cage so mess doesn't get kicked out - if that makes sense?

Good luck x

Hi there,

The correx is easier to find in the US than it is over here so you shouldnt have a problem finding it.

I watched a video on You Tube which shows how to make a C&C with Corroplast. If you just do a search on YT for "How to make a C&C cage" there are quite a few...it was a big help when I did mine.

I use fleece in mine, which probably isnt the Greenest form of bedding but he piggies like it and I find it easy to manage.

Good luck!

Why did you have to say him and not her?!

He is gorgeous, if only i could.....

x

Believe me I would love to keep him, its why I made the big C&C in the hope that it would give them more space to keep out of each others faces....but it didnt :(

He is a lovely little piggie, but hes just too hormonal for Gino lol!

If you wave a magic wand and turn him into a girl then he is mine! :)) He is so gorgeous! xx

Does he have pink eyes? I have a girly PEG x)

I want! I want! IIIII WAAAANTT!

Yes sorry about hyjacking this :red

Well he is just gorgeous, i am really sorry you find yourself in the position of rehoming xx

If you use fleece bedding, I think it is easier and cheaper to use a heavy duty shower curtain folded in half. If you don't use fleece their claws will poke holes in the shower curtain. I learner the hard way. Lol. Or you can use plexiglas.

Ditto on using fleece. It's the greenest thing you can use for the cage since you can reuse it for years. You'll just have to sweep daily and wash the fabrics weekly.

You can buy fleece from Joann's Fabric. They are on sale now. They blizzard fleece works really well at allowing urine to drain through to the absorbent layers underneath.

I line my cage with 2 layers of uhaul furniture pads and one layer of fleece on top. The uhaul pads are made from recycled denim and are very absorbent.

I have a small feeding area (1x2 grids) that I line with wood pellets. The rest of the cage is fleece and uhaul pads.
