Hi guys, thanks in advance for any advice!
About 6 months ago I rescued two baby piggies and they are doing well, my question for them though is how do I go about cutting their nails.. I have had many pets in the past and currently that I cut their nails but my piggies have black nails. I very scared to cut them too short because I cannot see how far I am cutting. So any advice on that would be great! But the main reason I am writing is because I just rescued a piggy today.. my neighbors had a guinea pig that THEY DID NOT know how to care for and asked if I wanted it.. when I saw the living situation of this pig and I could not leave him. There was no bedding in the cage and he was standing and piles of poop and pee! :((( no food! No hay! Nothing! He’s now happily in a brand new cage with lots of food, hay and water :))) but it obvious that they bathed him and with people shampoo.. his fur is just rough and not that hair of a nothing pig and I didn’t know if this was because of his living situation or because they bathed him. So if anyone has any advice on that I’d really appreciate it!
Thank you guys so much, I love all my animals so much even the ones I just meet and want only the best for them!

With regards nail, some suggest shining a light from underneath so you can see the quick. The alternative is to just trim a little off every week or however often. I do maybe every couple of months and just trim off a little.

As for the boy, well done for rescuing him. I don’t know what to suggest though. Hopefully they washed all the shampoo out. Please make sure there’s no way for him to get to the girls! Piggies can be very determined and you don’t want baby piggies, cute as they are. Are you going to neuter him and put him with the girls?

They’re actually all boys so we won’t have to worry about any babies thank goodness! And I plan to slowly introduce them at some point when my new friends is more comfortable and I know he’s in good health

Boar trios rarely work, especially when there are young ones involved. The two young ones are also at risk of falling out when you put them all together. You’d be at risk of having three boars living separately. I wouldn’t risk it. Just get a friend for the older boar.

Please don’t risk ending up with three boars all in separate cages because they have all fallout out with each other. Get your new boy a companion of his own. Or have him neutered and get him a lady friend x
Well done you for rescuing the poor boy thought 😁

Well done for rescuing that poor boy from such awful living conditions! Good advice already given re getting him his own friend x
