I have rescued a newly neutered boar, last week and we have called him Idris :(|) He was brought into the rescue by a lady who was walking her dog and found a box in some woods with three very thin piggies - Idris and two females (both heavily pregnant :( ) so they were seperated and he had to put weight on before he could be neutered. He was in a bad way - his fur has only just begun to show signs that he might be a rex/teddy breed! ( curly whiskers!) I will post a photo if anyone can tell!? He is intended to be a pair with my other rescue Gypsy. Now I have introduced them through the bars of the cage this morning thinking they would sniff and maybe get a scent of each other but WOW Idris had a very intense reaction to her - he chewed at the bars of the cage squealing and rumbling DESPERATE to get in with her! Poor Gypsy (who has been badly bullied in the past by other piggies hence she is alone to allow wounds to heal first) lunged at him mouth open and bit him on the nose! eek! I put him straight back into his cage again where he ran round jumping and threw his bowl over and hurled his igloo upside down!!:... obviously he is keen to meet with her but I'm a little worried about Gyspy's reaction- will be another 2 weeks before I try introductions again on neutral grounds and into a new cage - all neutral - but fingers crossed this is not a sign of a bad pairing! :...

I dont know if i will be the only one to say its doesn't seem like there is any love in the air on gypsys side. And it is natural for him to be this way to any female anyway. Is there the option to rescue another sow to live with him?

If you have a photobucket account you can upload them to that, then when uploaded and you are in your album, copy the IMG code and paste it in a new reply on here.

Yes there is always going to be the option to rescue another female to go with him, I just guess I had high hopes for Gypsy as she has been on her own for such a long time :( I wonder if she will be better once she isnt defending her own territory? she is an incredible girl - the only piggie i have ever had that soils her cage in one clean corner! Idris was reportedly very upset when he was seperated from the two females - he is a very vocal boy!
