Junior Guinea Pig
Since I added my second story about 6 weeks ago I have been using a temporary ramp made out of the corrugated plastic, like the bottom of the cage. It is covered because I have a jumper pig. It totally blocked the view into the cage. Also, I didn't have a second black grid for the top and had to use a jumble of white wire things I had around. I don't think it was the best solution and it was flimsy.
Here is a picture of the old ramp.
This weekend I made a new ramp. It is much more visually open and I like it a lot. The ramp parts are made from a wire thing that originally was made to stretch across a tub to hold soap and whatnot. It came apart in two pieces so both ramps are made from it. I have had this thing on my tub for about 10 years so I don't know where I got it from. It is attached to a step stool with zip ties. The step stool is perfect as a hidey, and since they like to zoom around the perimeter of the cage, this solved my problem of having the ramp block that path, and they can hide under it. On the ramp I used an outdoor doormat, cut to size. It was totally cheap but perfect, the flower print is so cute and the flowers are kind of rubberized so it has great traction. On the top I have covered it with a black coated chicken wire, to keep my 'jumper pig' from hurting herself by diving off of it. I also got a new black grid for the top loft area so it isn't peiced together with leftover stuff anymore.
Here is the new ramp.
Plus a funny picture of Penny begging x)
