Merrypigs Sanctuary
Adult Guinea Pig
So, I haven't been on here in a while, but in that time have set up a small (really small ) guinea pig sanctuary that I run from home. We have three residents at the moment, and our very own elderly sow who stays with us forever.
This is Ruffles, one of the sanctuary residents. He is still young, and is getting bolder every day. He is incredibly vocal and although he had lice when he arrived (which he is fully recovered from now) he doesn't mind being picked up. He also had a vit.C deficiency so his joints were swollen and achy and his coat was ruff (get it, Ruff-les? Nah ) but he is well on the mend now! He came from a lovely home who had lots of pets and could unfortunately not give him enough time - they had rescued him from a marketplace.
This is Medusa and her 'sister-from-another-mister' Valentina aka Juicy-Lucy and Tee-Tee. They are the sanctuary's first pigs, from a friend who unfortunately no longer had the space for them, and still loves them very much! Medusa is 3 and Tina 4. Tee-tee is in charge but the girls adore each other and will happily share food and cuddles. Medusa is very chatty but isn't quite as cuddly as Tina
And finally is mummy's little princess, my fairy-ballerina queen, my little pig-daughter Cuddles! Cuddles was surrendered to us at work and being so sick and old was unable to be rehomed, so I brought her home. Her sis was put to sleep as soon as she was surrendered to us because she was very ill with a tumour. Cuddie wasn't eating, was very thin, had a broken toe, was suffering from bumblefoot, had chipped teeth and had been squeezed so hard her eyes don't sit in their sockets any more and her lungs are scarred. But despite it all, she is the tamest, most loving and beautiful old girl I've ever met. She is approximately 5 but doesn't act it - she's full of beans and loves waddling about all over the house!
