Hi there

I am about to get new piggies. Its been a while since I had the last pair and have decided this time to go with an outdoor hutch.

I used to line the cages I have had before with a layer of newspaper, topped with wood shavings and then some hay ... what does everyone else use for outdoor piggies?

I'm going to the pet shop on the way home from work to get food, bottle, hideaways, hay etc ...

Thanks

Welcome to the forum. Hopefully somebody with outdoor piggies will be around to advise soon.

Congratulations on your new piggies!

When we had piggies 10 years ago it was the norm to keep them outside now it's much of a minority. In them days our piggies (well my wife's as I wasn't into piggies back then) were in a hutch with newspaper, shavings and hay on top. These days shavings aren't recommended but outside it should be less of a problem as there's lots of ventilation. If you would rather go for something to use instead of shaving then products such as Auboise, Raviera or Bliss Basic are better as they have similar qualities to shavings but without the bad side.

How about a disposable incontinence sheet, then fleece, then hay?
