I'm getting a friend for my male piggie Latte and need help. How long is do I keep the new boar in a cage separate from Latte's cage? Introduction advice? I'm new to this so I need as much help as I can get. My piggie Latte is about a year old.
 
Where are you getting your new pig from?

My rescue boy was 4wk post op when i bought him home - he was put in a cage in the same room as all my other pigs as i knew he was free of any nasty illnesses.

My other girl (who was a rescue - but not in the typical sense) was kept in a cage upstairs and well away from my other pigs for 8wks - 1wk after i got her i noticed numerous patches of fungal on her, because she was so small (only weighed 200g) treatment was very slow as we were limited as to what we could use on her being so small

Unless you get your new boy from a reputable rescue - i would advise 3wks minimum quarantine in a cage in a separate room to your other pig(s) - far easier to treat 1 single pig for an illness than multiple pigs!
 
A shelter. Not a very nice one, but they treat the animals fine. He may have been near dogs or cats so I will keep him in his own cage for four weeks. After that I will wash down Latte's cage with vinegar to get rid of smells. Then I will make Latte's cage a two by four.
