I have just taken in a male piggie from someone who couldn't look after him. I would like to put him with my other male piggie who is one of 3 boys but had to be seperated from the other two because he was being bullied. So far I have the two cages together and have put my current one up against the cage bars of the new one. There has been some rumbling and cheek rubbing going on but no teeth chattering or other signs of aggresive behaviour. How long should I have the cages together before I can put them in the same cage?

You will have to introduce them out of the cage to see if they get along. If they do then before you put them in the cage you will have to totally clean everything to remove the scent of your first boar. If not they will fight. I think it is a great idea to bath them together as they will bond and also smell the same.

When I first put my new boy at the time with the two brothers they wouldnt leave him alone and kept getting on his back, at this point I thought my new one was female took him back just to get checked again, they was just showing him who was boss and after a few hours of sniffing him and trying to get on his back it stopped and they got on great after that.

Thanks all!

I will need a new cage as the cage housing the one on his own will be too small for two piggies. I will introduce them tomorrow on the lawn in the run, if they get on for a couple of hours in there will they get on together ok in the same cage or does it sometimes take them a few days to start fighting?

Don't really want to go to the expense of a larger cage if they don't get on.

A c and c cage is ideal because then you can expand it and even arrange it so they can live apart.

I would love to do that but here in Istanbul things are limited, we can just about get cages big enough....sigh...

This new one is in a tiny cage for a piggie, poor thing :( thankfully they have only had him for 4 months before deciding he is too much work. He and Furry have been "chatting" together for the past couple of hours. He has been popcorning around his cage as he has just had some parsley, they were feeding him on carrots only which is ok but I like to give mine a large variety of veg! Spoilt piggies I have :)

Aw that's good news - maybe make them a cage when I couldn't find C&C granted I wan in NI - I used an old mesh cupboard worked perfectly!

If no issues on the lawn I would set up a larger pen in house - as I've seen the cages and I do understand in Istanbul it's much harder to get good sized cages but it really will give your boys the best possible chance of getting on!

Do you know anyone that's handy with tools - maybe they could make you a good sized hutch that's presuming you can get the mesh and wood to make it with!

Well done on doing the best for your piggies - I'm sure they are truly spoilt! xx

The two big blue cages I have the girls housed in and the two paired boys are 4ft x 2ft cages, these are the biggest cages you can get here. I did originally have the three brothers together but unfortunately he wasn't accepted by the other two hence the reason for seperating them. I am hoping that I can put the two alone pigs together in another 4ft by 2ft. I will look for some way of building them a cage here but unfortunately don't think I'll be able to.

My piggies go out in the garden for a run everyday and are more or less in their cages only overnight or if we are away, they love it outside and because the weather here is so good they are out on the grass 10 months of the year :)
