Hey Guinea Pig Friends

so I adopted two guinea pigs after asking my partner for them for the last 9 years, I’ve always wanted one since I was little and when I found out two piggies where left in a box outside the pet shop I had to help.

I don’t know much about the back ground but I know they are two girls and around 10-12 months old. I love them like they are my children and they have the biggest C&C cage I could find. I have read endless amounts of information/videos about diet & bedding etc so I know the environment is good. A few things I’m struggling with are one of them -the timid one bites everything BUT her toys and chews I have purchased so many different ones yet she still bites the cage or basically anything she’s not suppose to?What can I give her to stop the constant biting?also her tummy feels slightly large after each meal? Is this normal? Also sometimes she gets clumps in her eye so I bath it with a warm water and cotton bad And my other one sneezes often there is nothing in the room apart from succulent plants for greenery so no flowers or candles etc! I called the vets to get a check up and because of this virus I can’t take them in as it’s not an emergency so I find myself googling and fearing the worst. Both are eating, drinking & popping well. They get floor time every night and fresh veg in the evenings..

Sorry for the essay but please help me
Thank you

Guinea pigs will chew anything! Ensure they have plenty of hay available to them constantly - it needs to make up 89% of their diet in any event

The clumps in her eye is possibly cleaning fluid, but it’s not possible for us to say as we can’t see it

Sneezing - can be many reasons for it from harmless to an illness. Without knowing context we can only advise that excessive sneezing needs to be checked out but if piggies eat too fast it can make them sneeze, scented candles in the room etc can cause respiratory issues, the type of bedding you use can affect them and then the symptoms of respiratory infections. Discharge from the eyes and sneezing can be a sign but only a vet can say for sure

Hi and welcome!

Guinea pigs explore the world by biting.
Here is more information on all the various forms of it: " Biting" And What You Can Do (Biting, Tweaking, Nibbling and Nipping)

It is impossible for us to say what is going on with the eye without any pictures.
But here is a guide link that takes you through what is normal and what not in a body, including the eyes: Guinea pig body quirks - What is normal and what not?

It is not at all uncommon for new guinea pigs to sneeze a lot in their new home environment with a lot of potential irritants they are not used to. We also have currently high pollen season. However if you are in any doubt, please your piggies vet checked for potential respiratory infection.
New guinea pigs: Sexing, vet checks&customer rights, URI, ringworm and parasites

All the guide links are part of our pretty comprehensive New Owners' guide collection in which are specifically addressing all the areas we get the most questions, concerns and problems about. You will hopefully find a very useful resource over the coming months (best bookmark the link): Getting Started - New Owners' Most Helpful Guides
Our full information collection can be accessed via the shortcut on the top bar but you are always welcome to ask any questions you may have in the various Care sections.
