I am roughly a New Guinea pig owner and I don’t know how to pick my piggies up. One is quite shy and runs away while the other one comes to my hand (probably thinking I have food😂). I have tried but I don’t want to hurt them or have them run out of my hands. Any kind of help will be very appreciated, thank you.

Hi and welcome!

You may find this guide here helpful. It contains pictures and videos. Always place the conveyance in a corner; it is much easier to chivvy piggies into one, and they have got only two ways to escape so you can more easily catch them if necessary.

Welcome to the forum.
I also use a snuggle sack to pick up mine, especially Phoebe who hates being caught.
The guide @Wiebke had pointed out is very helpful.
