Hi, I have been lurking here for a while, and thought I would post some pictures of my GP's. I have two boars at the moment, one is around 6 months, the other around 15 weeks.

Here's the oldest, which I call Porky. He's all black, with one tan foot.

Here's Badger, who's tri colour/Abyssinian mix.

I am thinking of getting a third boar, sometime soon, and I'm making my own pen, which will be around 6 feet by 3 feet possibly bigger to house them. They will be indoors.

Hope you like, and thanks for looking ;)

awwww welcome to the forum - your piggies are gorgeous! :smitten:

Have fun :)

Mmmmmmmmmmm handsome fellas :smitten: :smitten:
LOL Porky cute name, errr can see why he got his name :smitten: :smitten:
Badger looks like a real lay back guy :smitten: :smitten:

Vey handsome boys :smitten: :smitten: Be wary of introducing another boar though, as 2 getting along is tricky but 3 is sure fire trouble! I recommend you have a look at barmy4boars website for info on bonding boars. My 2 boars recently had a big fight and are now living apart :'(

Welcome to the forum. Love both guineas, the first one with just one tan foot is adorable. :smitten: Their enclosure sounds like it is going to be brilliant. Agree, with what lavenderjade has said but providing you follow the information on barmy4boars and the basic rules for introductions you could have three bonded boars living quite happily together, especially in that size enclosure. Hi everybody, thank you all for your really nice welcome. Thank you as well for directing me to your site lavenderjade, I have been looking round there this afternoon, very informative, thank you. These two only just been introduced this week, and are doing really well. Apart from a bit of mounting, and the occasional squeak from them, there hasnt been any signs of aggression with them.

Its been a bit of a traumatic experience for me with my introduction to Guinea pigs. The middle of December last year, I rescued two boars, and within two weeks knew I was going to have problems. One had severe neurological problems and I had to have put to sleep as his back legs went, and he just stopped eating. The other had an abscess that was caused by a piece of hay getting stuck in his cheek, after he tried to eat it, the hay went in the inside of the cheek, and up over his forehead and ear, and he developed a really bad abscess in his cheek that we just couldnt get to heal, and until the beginning of this month, I was back and forth to different vets, and to see Vedra in CCT, and we just couldn't save him. He was such a fighter though, and through everything was such an amazing GP. He lost his fight at the beginning of the month, and I had to make the decision to have him put to sleep as well.

I called the Squeek and Squawk. Here's a picture of them both. Sorry about the blurry pics.

Squawk on the left Squeek on the right. Squeek was the longest GP I have ever seen, and the vet said the biggest he'd seen.

Cute piggies but which one is supposed to be an abby could not see a single rosette on them :-\

The tri coloured is part Abby mix, I saw the mother, she had a rossette on her head, but he doesnt seem to have any. Theres a black and white rex in the new litter, which looks like a black and white sheep, lol. I'm hoping its a male, if it is, its the one I've chosen.

A rosette on the top of the head is a crested guinea pig, not an Aby sorry. :( Squeak and Squawk were very hansome fellows. :smitten: :smitten: One question though, were they kept in a tank? :)

As it was a rescue and my first GP's, they were kept in the tank which was four feet by 18inches by 18 inches for about a week, till I could get a big cage for them. They were then in a 4 by 4 cage, which is what the boys are in now, but not for much longer as I'm building a huge pen for them about 6 x 3 feet. Got cubes and waiting for clorex to come and trying to find something to put the pen on. Should be ready in about 2 weeks. It will be built for when the new baby comes.

Oh O.K. that is good. O0 A few people think it is suitable to house them in tanks. :tickedoff: :)

The new pen sounds like it will be great O0Would love to see some pics of it when it is built. I am always looking for new ideas to improve mine. Unfortunately, since Lennie and Timmy fell out, they have less space now as i had to divide their huge cage into two 4 x 2`s. They got on famously at first, with some rumbling and mounting but a couple of weeks ago it kicked off into a massive fight. Lucky I was here. I really don't think their relationship can be repaired now :'(
If you are aware that it could go wrong and you have the space to separate them should it go wrong then at least forewarned is forearmed O0

Hi lavenderjade, I am so sorry to hear that. I am dreading it happening with mine. The good thing is that they can still see each other though. That's why I'm making such a large enclosure, just in case. Thank you for the warning though, its really good to realise it could happen.

I have finally managed to find some coroplast, its also called Corex, and a firm in London sells it, not far from me, and will deliver one piece, yippee. I am hoping that by the end of next week, the new pen will be built. Its just a case now of getting some hides and things for them to live in/hide in. That will have to wait a bit, until I can get some more money. I have some boxes they can use for a while.

Hi, Emma, he's such a cute little GP. Both him and Porky seem to be doing really well together. I cant wait now to get the new pen set up, and see how they like their new home. Its going to be huge. O0
