So hubby has caved and said to bring piggies in over winter. I'm a bit excited lol I've got a new c and c cage with correx base coming but how do I go about making a lid? Only I have small children so want the extra security. Will post pics when everything is up

Yay your piggies will be nice and warm indoors I think @alpacasqueak has a lid on her c&c so may be able to advise x

I have a lid on my c&c cage - it’s made out of the grids and special grids for the hinges.
It works very well. I used cable ties for extra security/strength.
I’m sure you could attach ordinary grids with cable ties.

Sure they’ll be happy with their warm bums indoor for winter!
I had one on my 4x3 C&C cage, but not on the ones I have now (a 5x4 C&C and 6.5x2.5) as they’re too big and they’d probably cave in! I made it cheap and cheerfully with C&C grids attached with cable ties and some bamboo rods so I could fold it over to get in and clean etc.
Here are a couple of awful pics so you can sort of see, but my phone is playing up atm so they’re not the clearest sorry!

This is my current cage for Luigi and Lolo so definitely a lot more difficult to get a lid on for a clumsy beggar like me by myself!

That was just after I made it, a lot more hay was added afterwards!

They look great! Will get loads of cable ties haha can't wait to get it done. Pompom and Blossom seem very happy indoors. I love being greeted by sqeaks in the morning !

Honestly having the piggies indoors bought us so much joy, particularly in the Winter when I know we wouldn't have spent as much time with them outdoors.

So here it is so far. No lid yet but actually the children have been really good. Might get a fleece liner for it next month and just have one end with megazorb and hay. As they only really wee in one area . Just had cuddles and out a new fleece tunnel in and Blossom has gone mad darting round the cage haha

Aw that looks like a good setup. We have our 4 inside all year!

lucky piggies.its the first year in 8 years that i now have 4 cages and 11 guinea pigs inside.the pros are no need to feed and clean cages out in the cold.i have more time to cuddle them and spend time !
