Hi all. After my worry that my 2 boys didn't have enough room I took your advice and didn't bother buying a bigger cage I got another run and have attached it all together. My problem is they still don't seem happy Guiness has started biting me whenever I try to pick him up and all the time I am with him and Rocky still runs and hides when ever I go near. I really want them to be happy but I worry I'm doing something wrong. Does anyone have any advice about the cage should I be doing anything different? (Sorry about the mess been trying to check they were ok)

They usually have one of the extendable tunnels in there but it's drying after being washed. I can't really do much bigger, my husband is already complaining that they have taken over a full room

Don't have any advise, haven't had any biters but the space they have is great, lucky piggies.Have you tried picking him up with a tunnel or a snuggle sack?It may be that he is just scared.Maybe sit in the cage with him, I do with mine.

Tried in the tunnel and he comes to the end to bite me and if I have him sat on my knee in the cage he still goes for my hands.

So why do they still hate me. I don't know what I'm doing wrong and what I can do to sort it

I don't know I've always adopted mine and there already been handled but maybe try and just stroke him to gain trust and hand feed him

Guiness took food off me once but won't again and rocky won't come near me. Will just persevere see if I can get them on my side

How long have you had them? Some pigs take months to get used to you.

Keep offering food.

If they bite while being handled, they may have mites. Mites can make pigs irritable when touched.

If they bite your hand, they may think you smell like food. Try to wash your hands before approaching them.

I thought about mites so When i took him to the vets I asked and he said it was just ringworm so been treating him for that.
Only had them for a month so will keep persevering and see if i can bring them round.

That's a lovely cage, I mean wow! Silly question, is he biting or nibbling?

Some of it is nibbling but he has drawn blood and when I have hidden him in my dressing gown to see if that helped him he I can hear his teeth pulling the material

Yes see my boys nibble and lick and they are fine and happy. I have read that pulling on cloths can mean they want a wee or to go back home, maybe he isn't a great fan of cuddles, I have one like this, I hVe to bribe him with s chin rub! Perhaps get s second opinion on the mites, just in case?

Thanks I think I will. He lets me stroke him in the cage so hopefully he's still settling in. Maybe your right and he just doesn't like being held will see how he goes

About the cage. Is it ok that it's all bedding? I wasn't sure from looking at some of the pictures if the run part should be fleece instead?

I wouldn't know how to advise you, we have a biter, we adopted him and he wasn't handled much previously, it doesn't bother us as he doesn't draw blood.

Your guinea isn't in pain is he? (the biter), I've read that sometimes they'll bite if in pain.

I don't think so that's why I took him to the vets just in case. They don't squeak or anything either. I'm hoping they are just taking there time to settle in

It's fine to use bedding for the whole cage. It's a matter of personal preference. You could try fleece, you might like it. Your cage looks great. Very spacious.
