how long did it take everyone for they’re guineas to settle in?

It depends what you mean by ‘settled’. If you mean not constantly hiding them it was maybe a few weeks in. If it’s regarding taking food from hand, they did it within a few days/a week. Letting me stroke them etc took some time. Patience is the key and knowing not everypig is the same.

Hi and welcome

Guinea pigs are prey animals, so they take a while to settle in any new surroundings. Pet shop and for sale breeder piggies have usually not have much (if any) in the way of friendly human interaction, so you have to to start from scratch. it depends on their background, how frightened they are and how stressed their mothers were during pregnancy and nursing as some piggies take the high stress levels they have experienced in utero as their own normal default.
This guide here may give you an idea how arrival in a home looks from the perspective of your piggies: Arrival in a home from the perspective of pet shop guinea pigs

The guide links are all part of our very practical and help New Owners guide collection, which specifically addresses all the areas we get the most questions, worries and calls for help about. Getting Started - New Owners' Most Helpful Guides

My pigs were very nervous the first couple of weeks and settled in after that. I found my first pair took longest to settle, as they were both brought home the same day so everything was new to them. Every other time I've been introducing a new pig to a long-term pig and the new guys seem to settle a lot faster when they realize that the other pig isn't afraid.

My pigs only took about a week to settle, but I think that was because they were from a breeder (being my first pigs I ever had) and the breeder handled them daily and had children who obviously loved to cuddle the baby piggies :)

my pigs took around 1 month but that it probably due to the pet shop keeping them in a horrible room next to the birds. they're really happy now though and have a nice big quiet run👍👍

Hi, it took a few months for mine but now they are right at home. One girl was much quicker & trusting but they all are different. Don’t worry just let it happen at their pace. It’s always a worry being a new owner though I know x
