Hi, Sorry wasn't sure what forum to post in as it's probably a cross between new guinea pigs/behaviour & food.
Bought my 3 girls home today, about 5/6 hours ago, put the box they travelled in with the straw from their old cage in the new cage on it side. They've not left this box for like 6 hours.
I've added cucumber and lettuce next to the box, Hay inside it and there is pellets and a water bottle too.

Do I just assume they'll come out overnight and eat? A bit worried about how long they can go without eating and drinking. They are 2-3 months, but not 100% sure as lady I got them off only had them a couple weeks.

Thank you x

Hi,
Congrats on getting your three new girls! 🥰

I'm sure they will eat something once they get hungry enough, and they won't need to drink necessarily if they have cucumber and lettuce, as they will get the liquid they need from that. Try not to worry, our two boys were exactly the same for the first few hours and now they're ALWAYS eating lol! 😄

You said they have hay in with them, they will be eating that.

Thank you! Typo! I got 2 girls! Would of loved 3 though 😂
I kind of remember my old guinea pigs doing this, but I can't remember how long it was and if I saw one of my previous pigs not eating for 6 hours I'd be off to the vets haha! Assumed it was normal, but just wanted to double check 😊

I did wonder this, they havnt noticeable eaten any yet, and not sure they've actually moved from their original corner, but I put some inside hoping it would help!

How are they ? Any progress yet ?

Well, the veg and nuggets seems to be disappearing over night 👀
They are still don't come out of their houses when we are around, but they've come out of their shells a lot if on my lap. I've had a purr, some talking and Minnie even groomed daisy's ear while we cuddled.

If you haven't already, you could try covering part of the cage with a blanket or similar, if there's cover from the predators (like you and I) they might feel safer coming out and about.
