I don't know if I should get another pig. I'm afraid my pig wont be that kind of pig for a partner. My guinea pig has been sleeping a lot lately and it's because he's bored. I'll pick him up and then he'll pool on me and then I will wait 5 minutes for him to use the restroom and then he'll be asleep again. And if I do get a pig, it wont be until next month so time consuming toys for the pig would be appreciated. For as long as I've had my pig he hasn't been like this. He eats and everything normal he's just seemed bored for the past week. Also I need my parents to approve. Suggestions on fixing that would be appreciated.

It's bringing me to tears watching my Latte sleep more than usual.8...It's like he's so bored he has nothing better to do.8...Please help... for the past few days this has been worrying me but today I just got a little too worried and just want help for my pig!8...

well he needs stuff to do get a paper tube and fill it with hay and veggie treats he *** love to play with that also put a small soft toy for him to snuggle with. other toys can be mirrors for than he will see another piggy in some way. um about the new piggy what sex is yours and the age?

Is he still eating, pooping and weeing well? Is the only problem that he seems to be sleeping more than usual?

I would definitely get him a friend. As he is a year old a baby boar could go well. Are you aware of boar dating?

As for toys, mine seem to like mirrors, ping pong balls, stuffed toys that are small and piggy-sized, chewing on toilet paper rolls with or without hay stuffed inside (cut in half lengthwise so they don't get stuck.)

He's completely healthy, he just sleeps WAY to much. Also, there aren't any piggies in my neighbor hood that would be a healthy play buddy. There's one on my street that keeps theirs in cedar bedding in store bought cages. There are more pigs but not good for play dates. I also need help on convincing my parents who think we have to many pets.

I wouldn't do pig 'play dates' anyhow. A pig meeting a strange pig is stressed out, not having fun! Companionship is good for pigs, but they need time to get used to and bond to a new friend! If you're young, I agree that getting your mom to agree to another pig is the first step. If it's any consolation to your mom, you can let her know that I don't find two pigs to cost more or to be any more work than one pig! I may have to clean the cage out a little bit more, and have to buy slightly more food, but it's really not much of an increase. And it really does improve their quality of life. We had a lone pig for a few weeks (one of our original pair passed away) and our piggie was much quieter and less active when she was on her own. She basically ate and slept, because, as you said, there's nothing else to do. She noticeably perked up once she got a new companion. Good luck!

A piggie who's a year old usually still popcorns around the place a lot :(|) well that's what i remember of my girls.
Maybe have a cuddle bear in with him at this stage until you can find a friend for him :)

My pig is acting alot better after i made him new toys. i still plan to get him a friend. Any rescues in texas, US would be great, so please list some if you can. I live near houston.

Sorry can't help with the rescue sites as I live in OZ. But good news that piggy has perked up. Really does sound like he was bored and so needs a friend.

I will hopefuly will find a nice piggy in the shelter or rescue. Our local shelter rarely has piggies so if they have any no one will look, so I might get to save a pig from there.

If none evailable at the moment, maybe you could ask the shelter to give you a call when they do have some. I've done that before, got a call one morning and was there within the hour. Unfortuantely they had got 3 in and I was only after 1 boy as a friend for the lone boy I had at the time and it was heartbreaking trying to pick out just one, they were all adorable.

They may have information on other rescues that care for small animals. The shelter in my hometown in Michigan was suppose to be only for cats and dogs but they are always getting small animals, birds, and once a goat. They send these animals to different rescues.

Hiya! :)

I'm so glad you've decided to get your piggie a friend! I'm sure once you find him a little piggie (make sure it's the same sex to prevent breeding) he'll be much happier! :)

Also, make sure you give him a proper quarantine, you don't want a new piggie giving your piggie any illnesses it might have been in contact with! :) And also remember to introduce them in a neutral area :)

Just thought I'd chuck in some little tips in case you didn't already know! :))

Can't wait to hear about the new piggie!
