I recently got two new guinea pigs, one has lost 115g in 3 weeks. When he came he weighed 965g and he now weighs 861g. I am feeding them a cup each of veggies a day (1 cup between them in the morning and one in the evening), a quarter of a cup of pellets and unlimited amount of hay. They are around 8 months old and they are eating all the veggies i give them and most of the pellets, sometimes them all. The guinea pig who has lost weight is eating ( i have seen him, he eats well) and he always eats the food I hand feed him. He looks well and is very lively. Should I be feeding him more?

:agr:
I would also say taken him to the vet as soon as possible any drastic weight loss in piggies should be looked in to.
He should also not lose weight like that if he is not yet an adult, he should be gaining weight frequentley, because he is still growing.
Best of luck!:tu:

:agr: That he needs to be checked over by the vet as that is an unexpected weight loss.

I think I would get him checked by the vet.He shouldn't be losing weight like that in my opinion.

Has the other guinea pig put weight on?
What was his starting weight, and where is he at now?

If you separate them at feeding time does the one who is loosing weight actually eat properly?
Sometimes it can be deceptive in that a piggie will pick food up, but then drop it again if they have dental or mouth issues.

the other Guinea pig has stayed the same weight, I hand feed whisper (the one who's lost the weight) quite regularly and he eats a lot from my hand
