I got a young boar (under a year old) about a week and a half ago from an independent pet store. He's doing really well - he's very active and is already starting to get excited when I enter the room. He likes to run around his enclosure and has a great appetite. I've noticed he's sneezing a lot though (I think it's sneezing - it's a short, quick little puff; it's not super forceful which is the only thing that makes me doubt it's a sneeze). I had guinea pigs a while ago and I think this also happened with them when I first got them, but it seems pretty excessive with him. I don't know whether or not to be concerned as that's his only symptom. Every so often, he gets a tiny bit of his bedding stuck to his nose, so I would assume it gets a bit damp when he sneezes, but I've never seen it running, and it's not crusty. His eyes are clean and bright and like I said, he's active and has a good appetite. I'm giving him timothy hay that's higher quality than what he was given before; what they gave him at the store wasn't as fresh and was pretty dry. There are also cats and a dog in my house (the cats do not come in the room where my piggy's enclosure is, and the dog doesn't shed). I'm using carefresh paper bedding in his enclosure.

Should I be concerned, or does this seem like a case of him adapting to his new environment?

A sneeze once in a while might not be anything to worry about, but a frequent sneeze should be checked by the vet.

It can be common for them to sneeze when they come to a new environment and are exposed to different things, but any concern needs to be checked by a vet, it’s not worth leaving something unchecked as you don’t want it to turn into something which could have been treated earlier. it’s always wise to get new piggies a vet check in any event, even if they appear healthy.
