Hi,

My new guinea pig, Manny - who I've had for just 2 days (he's 8 weeks old) is kind of going mental. That's the only way I can describe it!

Every so often, he's been running superfast around the cage, going through tunnels and back round again, and then sort of jumping up a bit (not sure if this is official popping, it's more like crazy run and jump).

So I'm wondering does this mean he's stressed or super excited?

I had to make a couple of amendments to the cage today, and it was when I put them back in that he did this. The amendments I made increased the floor space to run quite alot. He has done it a couple of other times since his initial one.

On the other hand though I read when they are stressed they simply hide.

Both guinea's are eating well munching lots of cucumber (which seems to be their favourite) and they are venturing out more and more - for the first 36 hours they pretty much just hide in their 'bedroom', but they're starting to explore a little more now.

But with Manny, I'm not sure if I should be worried or happy? Right now he's happily munching on more cucumber out in the open of his c&c cage.

xx

Phew I thought I had stressed them out by moving them today. Basically they sleep in the pet carrier I bought to bring them home, just put it inside the c&c cage and left the door open, so when I needed to move them for 30 minutes just closed the door and lifted them out while I changed some stuff in their house. But they seem to love it tonight!

Sounds like you have one very happy and super excited piggle! Enjoy the show! :(|)

He is what we call "popcorning" Its a very good sign, happy piggies do this.

Ohh, your pictures didn't come through :( can you try again?

I wonder why they do this specifically after a clean out or when their cage has been altered. Any ideas?

Piggies love a freshly made up cages and fun time, especially youngsters with boundless energy!
