I recently bought 2 male guinea pigs at 20 weeks old and I was advised to hold them for at least 30 minutes a day so they can get used to human contact. One of them if very active and makes squeaking noise and will take food from my hand whilst the other just scuttles up to my neck and will lay there without making noise. I'm worried as I'm a new owner and have never had guinea pigs before and I just want them to like me! Sometimes both of them run straight to my neck and will make small noises when I pet them and try to scuttle deeper into my neck. I'm very paranoid that they don't want to be near me. Any advice is welcome! Thank you :)

Hello! Welcome to the forum. All sounds completely normal to me :) We have all been there I promise

It may be worth offering food to your piggy while they are in their cage and hopefully after time they will take it off you - Food is the best way to bribe, use food when you get round to lap times also. Start lap time for a short amount of time at first and build up. We started off we laptimes for 1 minute with new piggies then pop them back, slowly increasing the time. They will soon associate you with food and good things but at first it takes a while to gain their trust.

Have a flick through of these threads here:

I do hope you enjoy being part of the forum, be lovely to see some photos of your piggies
