So as some of you know I recently bought fleece liners (my first move from sawdust) earlier this month. Due to a screw up on my part they were delivered late and then I was on holiday and didn't want to go fussing with the cage right before someone else was coming to look after them (especially as I knew it needed hoovering).

Anyway! On Friday evening my boyfriend and I let the guineas out for a run while we got about dissembling and reassembling their cage. They did have a 2x6 with a 2x2 loft, but now they have a 2x6 with a 2x2 'L' shaped loft with a bridge leading over to a 1x2 loft, which is their 'kitchen', as it has the hay rack, one water bottle and one food bowl.

Here are the pigtures! I'm very happy with how it's come out! The photos don't really do it justice! I struggled to get the whole thing in one photo due to the layout of our office, so I've had to take quite a few. We've decided to name their new home 'Wheek Towers'. Best yet, the piggies seem to genuinely love it and seem both more relaxed and more excited than they did before. ^_^ Yay!

Enjoy the photos!

Cage envy ! Looks great... I love that harlequin fleece...

@Sian25 Thank you! I'm very pleased with how it looks now. ^_^ Apparently the ramp/bridge are plywood and kiln dried pine (I didn't know my boyfriend was using these materials otherwise I'd have been against the latter).

@artcasper Thanks! I love the chequered fleece, so I got all their toys made in it!

Wow! Amazing cage, i would love to live in there myself:))

hi

what did you put underneath the fleece?

also how did you make the ramp and bridge would be a great idea and would love to do that for my guines :)

the ultimete it guinea pig housing , What a fabulous setup

@Maddykins, @squigglies, @gizzy thanks! I'm very happy with how it turned out, but am also excited to get them new toys to switch in an out now that we have the basic set up sorted. ^_^

@HansPiggies, @biscandmatt we opted for an 'L' shaped loft because we thought it would be easier to catch any piggies hiding under it than the 2x2 square we'd had previously, and as we were adding the 2x1 and bridge, we felt they weren't losing too much floor space by changing it. =)

@jrogers hehe, thanks! You're not the first person to say that! It'd be nice to live the piggy life though, ey? ;)

@Danniecakes there's nothing under the fleece, but it's a liner, so it has an absorbant layer sewn in (I actually had to alter one of the 'L' shaped fleeces, so I got to see it!). So far this seems to be working sufficiently, without the need for extra absorbancy. In regards to the ramp/bridge, my boyfriend made them, so I'll ask him to post up some commentary about it on here for you. =)
